  • 85mm-1.8 or 100mm-2.8 Macro for EOS20D?

    Hello,
This is my first post at Belgiumdigital. Already saw a lot of good tips but now i'm still in doubt about what to do......for my EOS20D i want to buy a "short" Canon tele lens and i wonder if the 100mm 2.8 performs good for candid photography (street photography, portraits etc.) also because it's build for macro as well. The 85mm-1.8 would be a a good alternative ofcause but i would like the Macro feature of the 100mm...........any tips would be very welcome!
    Thanks!

I am a Nikonian but a suspect the macro lens will focus a bit slower, will be very sharp. For portrait 100mm will be a bit long, especially since most canon prosumer dslrs have a 1.6 crop.
85mm is my favorite lens for portrait. I use wide angle for candid pics because you can point and shoot from your hip without using viewfinder.
