  • D3 + teleconverter

Does anyone use a teleconverter on a Nikon D3?

I'm considering one but curious if the AF is affected in anyway. The D3 already disappoints me in it's low light AF. Especially with the camera held portrait. Compared to the D2X which can snap onto anything with low contrast, the D3 takes more effort to get a lock.

It'll be used with the Nikon 70-200

    Cheers,
    Rob

    Re: D3 + teleconverter

I don't know what the maximum F-number (with AF) is on a D3, but with a 2X convertor you'll get a 140-400mm, perhaps it's better to buy a 200-400 from nikkon. If you combinate the 70-200 with a 1.4x it might be a good combination, you loose less light/quality.

I hope my English is correct

            thanks guys.
the 200-400 is overkill for what I need so I'll give the 1.7x TC a try
