  • Quality AA cells and charger

Can anyone suggest an online store that sells quality AA cells and chargers?
I've had enough of the cheap ones.. 1 GP and 1 Memorex charger defect, so I'm not even going to look at what Aldi has on offer.

    Uniross or Sanyo.

    Any ideas welcome.

    Thanks, Trebs.

      Plain bad luck?
I have my GP for almost 2 years now. Still works like a charm....

I do think there are way too many models of chargers with GP (seems like everytime i see them in a store, the model changed) and that doesn't add to the confidence i must admit.
Maybe the newer ones are crap...

        thanks guys,
I've mailed a few manufactures that I've found on the net, some top-level chargers out there... Just have to find Euro suppliers now.

Jo, maybe bad luck, but you can understand I'ma bit fed up with expensive consumer batteries being badly charged and managed by the charger and therefore failing on me.. :/

Re: Quality AA cells and charger

I have just ordered a La Crosse RS-900 (via PhotoHall). Basically you need a store that can order the complete range at Dectel, and that doesn't charge extra transport costs if it is not (yet) in their own product catalog...

This appears to be regarded as one of the better chargers on the market.
Costs 75 euro in Belgium, and included are 4xAA 2000 mAh and 4xAAA 700 mAh batteries together with special adapters to use them instead of C or D type batteries.

Every cell is charged completely indepently, discharge, refresh is foreseen, battery capacity measurement as well. All is indicated for each battery seperately on a LCD display. Also you have individual selectable charging currents, from gentle up to 1 hr charging....
Here is an American page with info (there it is called the BC-900)

My other option was a Maha MH-C801D 8 cell charger which charges 8 cells indepently. I haven't found a Belgian or European importer yet.... So if anyone knows one, please let me know

The 75 euro in Belgium is a lot more than the 45 dollar in the US currently, but if you include international shipping and taxes, you'll be close to this, unless you have a trip planned ofcourse .

Hopefully I will be able to report on it after the weekend. Dectel has them on stock, and PhotoHall indicates about a week until it arrives with them.

              Good info here.. Thanks.

I've been looking around too and seen the La Crosse, it looks good.
The Maha 8 cell was the one that really caught my eyes. I mailed the company in the US and have been forwarded teh details of the only 2 European dealers.. One in the UK and one in Germany. Now I'm working on those to find out what it will cost to get one over here..

If it proves too hard to get hold of, I'll probably go for the RS-900 too.

Could you please send me the details of the European dealers? Or maybe post them somewhere, I'm still interested in buying the Maha as a stationary, always online charger next to the La Crosse.
