Nice construction, Trebs, but I don't think this solves azhrarn's problem to have the camera in portrait orientation without changing the flash's attitude...

Have a look at this bracket on the Photim website (the on-line store associated with the French photo magazine Chasseur d'Images). Not really an aesthetic solution, but probably efficient.

I did not find a website for the original manufacturer but there's more detail here.

I remember seeing it with a small softbox (like a micro or mini Westcott Apollo) mounted in one or the other photo magazine, but I cannot quickly recall where that was.

Thanks. You are right. The sollution Trebs gave me doesn't serve my needs.
I found that bracket you mentioned also. But it looks too big and I cannot image it is handy. But it is cheap and I will take it into account.

Hoe ziet het eruit...

Ik heb eindelijk het RRS flash bracket aangeschafd. Het kost wel wat, maar de kwaliteit is onomstotelijk. Bovendien is het Arca-swiss compatible.
Met de aanschaf van deze bracket heb ik bovendien een paar vliegen in één klap te pakken gekregen:

Het probleem waar ik mee zat, is het kantelen van de flitser bij portrait stand waardoor ik zware schaduwvorming naast het onderwerp krijg; schaduwen die door het onderwerp zelf geblokkeerd zijn bij landscape positie.

Met het RSS flashbracket
Met een simpele handeling kan ik de flitser een kwart slag draaien waardoor deze altijd boven de camera gepositioneerd is, ongeacht hoe ik de camera vasthoud.




Als telelens flashbracket
Door de flashbracket aan de lensplate te koppelen is het ideaal als flits bij telelens gebruik, waarbij de flits op dezelfde positie blijft bij het omschakelen naar portrait.



De brackets zijn in drie verschillende diameters te verkrijgen, dus ook voor dikke 300mm f/2,8 of 500mm f/4 zullen geen probleem opleveren

Voor het aansluiten op de L-bracket van de camera (in mijn geval van Kirk) wordt een “nodal-slide” geleverd. Zoals de naam al zegt kan die naast aansluiting van de flashbracket, op zijn beurt dienen voor de paralax-correctie bij panoramaopnamen. Ik heb er al dankbaar gebruik van gemaakt. Hier volgt een plaatje ervan:





pfff - het lijkt wel reklame... maar ik wilde even laten zien waar ik ten slotte voor gekozen heb. Wellicht dat andere mensen die op zoek zijn een idee kunnen krijgen...
