Nice construction, Trebs, but I don't think this solves azhrarn's problem to have the camera in portrait orientation without changing the flash's attitude...
Have a look at this bracket on the Photim website (the on-line store associated with the French photo magazine Chasseur d'Images). Not really an aesthetic solution, but probably efficient.
I did not find a website for the original manufacturer but there's more detail here.
I remember seeing it with a small softbox (like a micro or mini Westcott Apollo) mounted in one or the other photo magazine, but I cannot quickly recall where that was.
