I did so with my french manual for the SB800 &... 3 weeks later the dutch version was in my mailbox!

A lot of people buy Nikon's from other European countries and then need a printed manual in their own language, I found this a bit earlier on the Nikon site. Basically, send them the manual you can't understand, and they'll send you one you can 
"If you have purchased a new product and the supplied printed manual is not in your required language, then you can exchange it for the same manual in another language using our exchange service. We can only offer this service for current products and the manual must be in new condition (unused original). Manual availability is limited to the languages supplied by Nikon Europe and differs depending on product (no Asian languages available).
1. Login to your account to register your product online. If you do not have an account click here.
2. Post your printed manual to us with the following information:
a) The language of the user manual you require.
b) Your name, address and email address to enable us to process your request quickly.
Post to the following address:
Nikon Manual Exchange Service
PO Box 11121
Dublin 3
Ireland
Please allow two weeks for delivery from the time your manual is received. If the item is unavailable we will contact you by email to let you know when the item will be back in stock."
