telenet modem

Maybe a silly question....
But can any cable modem be used to connect to telenet service?
Or is there an obligation to use one of theirs?
I only ask because when I first hooked up to them in 2000 I had use their Motorola unit.

Any modem suggestions if we're free to use anything?

No, you have to use one of telenet, there is no discussion about that. But the advantage is, it rests their modem, so when he is broke they have to repair / change it . You even don't pay rent for the modem, just a small waranty that you get back, when you give them their modem back.
