  • Birdstrike !

So Tinne thought she had her animals under control huh?..
This morning I was making some tea, then.. Whammo!.. Something decided to try and get into the house without opening the window.......

I went outside to see what it was and found this little guy laying on the floor.
I've seen him around for the last few days so have been putting out food. I felt it only fair I should help him. I brought him inside, made a small nest on the worktop with some kitchen paper and sat him in there. He looked very dazed and scared. About 2 hours later he seemed to have regained his composure as he had got up and was walking around, trying to fly. 30mins later he took to the air and crossed the room. I caught him again, took it outside and returned it to the tree he'd had always sat in. I was worried he would just die from shock, but he seemed relieved to be free again, and soon flew off. It really made my day to see him return to the tree a bit later and eat from the feeder I'd hung there.
It's not every day you have a Robin around for tea...

yeah, the same problem here. some pigeons died instantly from a whiplash, by flying against the window. only the coalpits seem to survive. but we help them just the same ay as you did. only i forget to take pictures

You don't like my pics? Zero sugar, zero taste...

Zo dicht heb ik Tinne nog niet bij de vogeltjes gezien!
Mooie reanimatie Trebs. Je krijgt onmiddellijk je diploma EHBO.

nice shot and nice help action.
But i guess you better not bring "wild" animals inside.
I guess even small birds can die from stress just taking them in your hands ...

True, I thought of that, but it was either that or face the peril of the 2 cats that hang around here. He's still flying about the garden too, I've seen him again this afternoon.. well, I think it was him, a robin is a robin..

                    Re: Birdstrike ! He's back !

Sorry about the image quality, I saw him, grabbed the camera and just snapped.
It looks like 3 days after his window accident, the little guy is doing just fine.

Als je op een plaats woont waar dit veel kan voorkomen zou je beter "zelfklevende roofvogelsilhouetten" op de ruiten kleven.
