I came up with an idea a while ago for some simple and portable studio reflector panels. I made a PDF to show the idea to a UK colleague and thought I'd put it on BD for those interested.
The Trebs super simple reflector panels PDF
Basically, polystyrene sheets have been used for a long time in studios, but they're pretty big and not great for small spaces or transporting.
this idea still uses the polystyrene sheets, but smaller ones that can be folded up and transported easily.
Ingredients needed.
- One pack of 3cm thick 50x100cm insulation sheets, (there are 8 sheets in one pack)
- One roll of Duct tape
About €11 in total.
Tape all the edges of the polystyrene, so they don't break, then make a Duct tape hinge between each pair of panels.
Once made, they stand up by themselves and can be stacked on top of each other, making 2 reflector panels of 100 x 200cm. Or 4 of 100x100cm.
If you paint one side with black latex paint, then you can also use them as non reflect panels of course.
simple, cheap and work well.
