  • carrying gear..

What do you guys used to carry your lighting gear about?
Couple of tripods, flashes, triggers, etc..

I'm thinking of a gun case or something similar to put it all in. Now I have tripod bags, flashes in the camera bag, etc. It would be tidy to have it all in one good bag or case.

    ideas?

    Rob.

De angst voor het terrorisme is een beetje geluwd, maar ik denk dat een "gun case" not a good idea is.

          Re: carrying gear..

Having all gear together is something I have been looking at as well.
Gun case is a good idea but as tripod lengths may vary, I have been looking at cases that are big enough to have everything in them.
          I am currenly considering these.

Other possibility might be to use the "Systainer" system: cases that can be connected to one another. in this way you can divide your gear over several cases and connect them for easier carrying.

          Hope this helps.

These look ideal, I think I'll look into these too, thanks.

                    Re: carrying gear..

I have been looking for this in the huge B&H store in NY...
                    nothing really qualified...

                    my requirements are:

                    one bag
                    with camera and lenses
                    Flashes (SB800 size)
                    Modifiers (umbrella's and Westcott Softboxes)
                    3 stands (small ones)
                    Sunbounce reflector (mini)

the bags that came closest to the requirements where lighting bags

but then you need to aquire extra paddings for your camera gear.... perhaps bag in bag would be good... or this, but prices rise...

                      Re: carrying gear..

This is an interesting thread to me too...

So far I have with me all my flashes in a slingshot, 2 cameras in separate Lowepro bags. These are all put into a big black O'Neill snowboard bag with wheels together with all the umbrella's, softboxes and lightstands. Things get too heavy to roll comfortably. I really am looking for something with bigger wheels that easily could roll over grass and dirtroads.

                        interesting..

So far we have several options popping up

                        Here's a sporting one..
                        cricket coffin

I already have a Lastolite bag similar to this:
                        standbagger

Tenba also have a variety of solutions:
                        light stand bags

                        Already mentioned in this thread:

                        flight cases

                        Pelicase's solutions:
                        gear case

                        gun case

going to continue searching and figure out my ideal solution
