Wat mij betreft.
Maar hoe komt hij eigenlijk aan die 0,7?

Enne.. scherptediepte in procenten uitdrukken heeft nooit mijn voorkeur gehad.. het lijkt veel, maar in tienden van millimeters is het absoluut niks.

This can be done via the pupil magnification P (Eq. 1). As a rule of thumb, P equals one for symmetrical designs, is larger than one for retrofocus lenses and smaller than one for telephoto lenses.

A measure for the lens symmetry is the pupil magnification P, also known as the pupil factor. It is defined as P= exit pupil diameter divided by entrance pupil diameter

The entrance pupil is the lens aperture that is seen when you look into a lens from the front, the exit pupil is physically the same opening but observed from the rear. For a perfectly symmetrical lens the pupils have the same size and P=1. Departures from a symmetrical design occur, for instance, with the telephoto lens (P<1) and the retrofocus wideangle lens (reversed telephoto design) with P>1. Apart from the DOF, the pupil magnification affects quantities such as the depth of focus, the effective aperture (in relation to exposure) and the field of view. For faraway subjects the pupil magnification has no significant influence on these quantities; it becomes important for image magnifications greater than, say, 0.1. In the very macro regime the impact of a nonunitary P is substantial.

Over de relevantie hoeven we het uiteraard niet eens te zijn. Ik ervaar het als een voordeel (heb zowel met een 60mm als 180mm macrolens gewerkt).

Hou er rekening mee dat de moderne 1:1 macrolenzen de brandpuntafstand verkorten bij 1:1. Een 105 mm blijkt bij 1:1 ongeveer 75 mm te zijn, de 60mm iets van 45 mm. Je kunt dit berekenen door de instelafstand bij 1:1 te delen door 4.
Verder denk ik dat in een wereld waar de scherptdiepte erg klein is, iedere tiende mm extra alleen maar winst is.
