    Fujifilm unveils FinePix X100 large-sensor compact

    Pre-Photokina 2010: Fujifilm has announced the X100, a large-sensor compact camera aimed at professional and enthusiast photographers. Based around a 12Mp APS-C CMOS sensor, Fuji EXR processor and 23mm F2 Fujinon lens (equivalent to a 35mm semi-wideangle), the classically-styled camera features traditional analogue controls for shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation. Of particular note is the new 'hybrid' viewfinder system which allows the user to switch between optical and electronic viewfinders and project detailed shooting information into the OVF. The spec is rounded off by 720p HD movie recording, a 460k dot 2.8" LCD, flash hot shoe, and magnesium alloy top and base-plate castings. The camera will be available from early 2011.

    Hello, beautiful! The clock just struck midnight here in the wilds of Cologne, Germany, and it's safe to say that Photokina 2010 is underway. Fujifilm's press event isn't scheduled until Tuesday, but it looks as if it'll be teasing us all by releasing information on its drop-dead gorgeous new FinePix X100 tonight. This rangefinder-esque cam packs a 12.3 megapixel APS-C sensor, and it's obviously designed to go mano-a-mano with Micro Four Thirds and the slew of other mirrorless / interchangeable lens compacts that are hitting the market. Aside from supporting 720p movies, boasting an EXR processor and shipping with a 23mm F2 Fujinon lens, this new handheld includes a Hybrid Viewfinder that enables users to toggle between optical and electronic viewfinders and display intricate shooting information right into the OVF. There's also a 2.8-inch rear LCD, a hot shoe on top and a magnesium alloy top / base plate that might be the sexiest we've ever seen on a camera in this sector. Low-light shooters will appreciate the ISO range of 200 to 6400, and there's also 5fps continuous shooting, a full-on manual mode, SD / SDHC / SDXC card support and dimensions of 127- x 75- x 54mm. Something tells us a lot of to-be DSLR buyers will be shifting to this far more portable alternative when it drops in early 2011... provided it doesn't cost a small fortune, of course.     Dat design, die oldskool metalen draaiwieletjes, die hybride zoeker, een vaste lichtsterke lens... Ziet er IMO een pak spannender uit dan een nieuwe Samsung of Panasonic MFT.

    Op papier een Leica M8.2 met vaste lens en lagere prijs? Fujifilm heeft een uitstekende reputatie qua sensors.

            Ziet er inderdaad iets uit om in je hart te sluiten. Maar dat is ook de kant waar mijn
            portefeuille zit, en daar zal het toch eerst doorheen moeten.

                    Waarschijnlijk zal deze ook goed zij in de hoge iso, op te voeren tot een waarde van 128.000 iso, zal ook wel iets betekenen zeker.

                      Hoeft zelf niet voor mij. D300 achtige prestaties zijn al OK, het hoeft geen D3s killer te zijn. Benieuwd naar beeldkwaliteit en dingen zoals AF snelheid. Hopelijk geen steken laten vallen.

                      Maar ik vrees voor de prijs, het ziet er allemaal nogal upper class uit, cf. filmpje in 2de link.

                        Men is hier ook razend enthousiast over deze camera en dat enkel en alleen omwille van specs en vooral looks

                          De camera slaat gewoon de nagel op de kop. Geen noch mossel noch vis. Geen veredelde compact, geen kleine body met gigantische lenzen, geen dummy-interface. Zoals het er nu uitziet, een degelijk tool, compact en volledig. Eentje waar inderdaad al jaren naar verlangd wordt door velen en met een retro look & feel dat geapprecieerd wordt door de oudere consument, alsook de jongere.

                          Natuurlijk niet té voorbarig zijn, er is voorlopig alleen de body om naar te kijken.

                              Op zoiets zit ik al lang te wachten .
                              Nu nog maar de prijs afwachten, als die enkel voor de gefortuneerden der aarde is bestemd ga ik een regelrechte depressie tegemoet !
