  • Must-see places in Maastricht ?

    Hi all,

We're thinking of a weekend break in Maastricht, somewhere I've never been.
From what I've read and heard it's a goldmine of historical interest which in turn must mean it's a fantastic place to fill a few CF cards.

So to my appeal... Are there any tips, must-see, don't see, etc, places that BDer's can recommend to fill 2 full days with ?

    Many thanks.

    Trebs & Co.

Maastricht is nice to visit if you like shopping (I do not mean coffee shopping)
There are a few places which are of interest.
"Het vrijthof" is a nice place with a church, fountain, etc. and a lot of pubs.
Also the park with a tower, the bridge over the maas, some modern art buildings etc. I don't know if you can spend 2 days just in Maastricht. For sure others can recommend places of interest close to Maastricht.

    regards, Benny

You can take a lot of pictures in the center of Maastricht (where the shops are, and at Vrijthof, Old Market Place, Sint-Amorsplein (square),...).
But also more outside the center , you can visit a lot of beautifull places such as the Sint-Lambertus Church and Stadspark (official city park with fountains, ...).
If you like modern art, visit the Bonnefantenmuseum.
On the other side of the river Maas, you'll find a lot of beautifull modern buildings as pictures above show.

              JahJah,
The Architecture of the city is my main interest, these images certainly appeal to me.
RoelW, the Bonnefantemuseum is on the list too. Thanks.

Re: Must-see places in Maastricht ?

                Hi,

Thanks again for the tips, we had a fine weekend in Maastricht. Saturday was very cold but very bright, Sunday very grey.
Here's a small selection of the photos:

The bridge image is made of 6 photos, (7544x2654 pixels at full res) the sky was so dull and grey I decided to desaturate it totally.
The library is made out of 3 images as is the wheelview. Wheelview was not made any easier by the fact the wheel was turning at the time!

                Regards,

                trebs & Co.

                  Hi Trebs,
The wheelview is the best for me.
A pitty it was very grey.
                  regards, Benny
