Hallo allemaal,
Dit staat nu bij Pbase te lezen (sorry - enkel Engels):
"23-Dec-2002 - PBase switches to a required payment system. See the Pricing Information Page
Many people will have many questions. The majority of these will be answered over the next week so please be patient and look here for news.
The most common question will be "What happens to my photos?"
The details will follow, but the short answer is that people who have previously paid won't have anything to worry about for a long time. Your help is the only reason why pbase is still alive and is greatly appreciated. Other people will have plenty of time to decide whether paying for the service is worth it to them or not. No photos will be deleted any time soon.
Paypal will continue to be an option for payment, but the credit card processing page will be online within a day or two.
Following that will be details on how exactly your disk usage is measured, and then tools for recompressing your photos to make them much more space efficient.
At some point an email (the first pbase spam mail) will go out to announce all of this.
After seeing many other sites fail, no doubt there will be much speculation as to whether pbase will survive the change to a required fee system.
I have no doubt that it will survive.
PBase has relatively small debt and is run very efficiently so there is no danger of creditors repossessing servers or shutting off power, etc.
My goal for the following year is to upgrade all the servers to provide even greater speed and reliability, and then concentrate on improving the software and adding new features so that PBase is unquestionably the best place on the web for your photos. (7,271,206 photos online)
