eens een knuppel in het hok gooien.
Here are 20 reasons off the top of my head that I am happier with my Nikon system than I ever was with my Canon system.1.Autofocus. No comparison. The Nikon d700 has a serious, professional autofocus system. With my 85m f/1.4 I can select the nearest eye at f/1.4 and instantly focus on it. The 5d Mk II forces you to use the center AF sensor, robbing sharpness wide open when you have to focus and recompose. Forget focusing at night with any of the outside sensors on the 5d Mk II.
.Build quality. The Nikon d700 feels like a sculpted brick in my hands. The 5d Mk II does not fit as well. I don’t like using a battery grip. I like that the d700 is big enough to comfortably fit in my hands.
.Ergonomics. I can hold a Nikon d700 in my hand for 8 hours with no strap and not have any hand pain, the Canon 5d Mk II would hurt my hand after 1 hour of shooting with a light prime lens.
.Low ISO banding. The Canon 5d Mk II has visible shadow noise at ISO 200. It looks like the Nikon d700 at ISO 1250. That’s a joke.
.Why is the Canon 5d Mk II not weather sealed? That’s a joke for a $2500 dollar camera. The Nikon d700 is.
.12 Megapixel is all that a wedding photographer needs. I can shoot a whole wedding in raw and not have to worry about files size. I don’t want to mess around with partial JPEG shooting for space savings.
.Nikon values noise control over resolution and megapixels. That is the right way to do it.
.Canon’s lenses, yes even the L ones, like the 24-70mm f/2.8 are not up to the resolving power of the 21 Megapixel Canon sensor. This is stupid and backwards.
.Ask any Canon user how many times that they have had to send gear in for repair in the last year. Compare that to a Nikon user. Period.
.The Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 runs circles are the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 which is a mushy pile at 24mm f/2.8.
.The way that skin tones are rendered on the Nikon d700 are superior to the Canon 5d Mk II.
.The $1000 85mm f/1.4 is superior in terms of focusing speed and weight compared to the much more expensive Canon 85mm f/1.2.
.Nikon lenses don’t have the horrible purple fringing that is seen on many Canon lenses shot wide open.
.Nikon flash exposure I have found to be much more consistent.
.I far prefer the 2-dial system on Nikon to the dial and back wheel adjustments of the Canon.
.I don’t have to mess around with menus on the Nikon d700. I can format a card and reset the camera to default settings by just pressing 2 buttons on the d700.
.My images are actually in focus wide open. The 50mm f/1.2, what a lovely lens when it hits focus, but that is few and far between (even if it says it has locked focus in the viewfinder).
.I can shoot up to ISO 4000 without hesitation on the Nikon d700.
.The Nikon 135mm f/2 DC is unrivaled.
.Processing the Nikon d700 RAW files is a pleasure, the 5d Mk II RAW files a chore.
