    D3 probleem, firmware related?

    Volgens deze thread op DPreview zou er een firmware probleem kunnen zijn met versie 1.10.

    Ik kan het in elk geval perfect reproduceren. D3 in P-mode, auto-ISO, RAW, compressie zonder verlies, 14-bit, CH stand schieten tot de buffer vol is.
    Frame 14 van 16 is slecht.

    Getest met verschillende in de camera geformatteerde CF kaarten om kaartprobleem uit te sluiten.

    Inderdaad, opverschillende fora en blogs wordt melding gemaakt van een fout in de Firmware v1.10 voor Nikon D3...

      Ik had gisteren hetzelfde probleem met mijn JVC 1.2 Mp linkerdeel stond rechts

      Is een fout in het wegschrijven naar/uit de buffer, verkeerde verwijzingen van positie, hij versnijdt de foto en plaatst delen verkeerd. Gebeurde vroeger wel meer in Jpeg, lag volgens mij aan de compressiemethode. Raar dat het in RAW ook kan, kan opgelost worden en zal welicht opgelost zijn in de volgende firmware, zou er niet mee inzitten. Normaal is dit een softwarefout.

      Wat echter wel zou kunnen, is een HW-fout in de buffer in de allocation maar dan zou het dus moeten voorkomen met andere instellingen ook, op voorwaarde dat je de buffer volschiet.

      Als iemand de firmware nog niet upgeload heeft, kan hij even testen. En anders misschien toch de oude terugzetten en dan nog eens zien.

        Thanks for the question. We're working on this issue and hope to have some news soon. Until an official announcement is made we'd suggest not using 14-bit mode when shooting NEF+JPEG in long bursts. Thanks for your patience.

          De firmware-update is van de site gehaald. Eind april komt er een nieuwe.

              Sven, voor zover mij bekend, gaat het niet.
              Andere instellingen gebruiken waarbij het fenomeen niet optreedt en wachten op de update.

                Termination of D3 Digital-SLR Camera Firmware Ver. 1.10 Download

                On April 15, 2008, an announcement was made on the Nikon website that the Ver. 1.10 firmware update for the D3 digital-SLR camera was available for download. However, it has been confirmed that when the following settings are applied with the updated firmware, image data may, in some rare cases, be corrupted. Therefore, we have terminated the firmware update download. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.


                Release mode: Continuous high speed (CH), or Continuous low speed (CL) with Custom Setting d2 set to 9 fps
                Image area: FX format (36x24) or 5:4 (30x24)
                Image quality: NEF (RAW) or NEF (RAW) + JPEG fine/normal/basic
                NEF (RAW) recording>NEF (RAW) bit depth: 14-bit
                *The issue related to NEF (RAW) recording>NEF (RAW) bit depth may occur regardless of the option selected for NEF (RAW) recording>Type (Lossless compressed, Compressed, or Uncompressed).
                If you have downloaded the D3 Ver. 1.10 firmware update but have not yet updated the camera’s firmware, please do NOT perform the update. If you have already updated the D3 firmware, please do not shoot with the combination of settings indicated above. This issue does not occur with other combinations of camera settings (for example, when NEF (RAW) bit depth is set to 12-bit, or when shooting in continuous low speed (CL) release mode with Custom Setting d2 set to 8 fps or lower.)

                The download version of the revised firmware update is expected to be available in late April. For more information regarding this matter, please contact Nikon Customer Support.

                  Ik heb bevestiging gekregen dat er binnen de 10 dagen een nieuwe release zou zijn.

                    Voor degenen die het liever in het nederlands hebben

                    Op 15 april 2008 is op de Nikon website firmwareversie 1.10 voor de D3 beschikbaar gesteld voor download. Het is gebleken dat bij onderstaande instellingen, wanneer men de nieuwe firmware 1.10 gebruikt, beelden in bijzondere omstandigheden beschadigd kunnen raken. Derhalve hebben wij de firmware download gestopt. Wij bieden onze welgemeende verontschuldigen aan voor enig probleem dat dit fenomeen met zich meebrengt.



                    Ontspanstand: Continu hoog (Ch). Of Continu laag (CL) met persoonlijke instelling d2 ingesteld op 9 bps.
                    Beeldgebied: FX formaat (36x24) of 5:4 (30x24)
                    Beeld kwaliteit: NEF (RAW) of NEF (RAW) + JPEG fine/normal/basic
                    NEF (RAW) opname > NEF (RAW) bitdiepte 14 bits
                    Het fenomeen gerelateerd aan NEF (RAW) opname > NEF (RAW) bitdiepte kan zich manifesteren, onafhankelijk van de geselecteerde optie voor NEF (RAW) recording > Type ( Compressie zonder verlies, Gecomprimeerd, Ongecomprimeerd).




                    Indien u de D3 firmware versie1.10 wel heeft gedownload maar de camera nog niet hebt geupdate, voer deze update dan niet uit. Wanneer u de D3 firmware update reeds heeft uitgevoerd, fotografeer dan niet met een combinatie van de instellingen zoals hierboven beschreven. Dit fenomeen treed niet op bij andere combinaties van camerainstellingen (bijvoorbeeld NEF (RAW) bitdiepte 12 bits of wanneer u fotografeert op ontspanstand continu laag (Cl) en persoonlijke instelling d2 is ingesteld op 8 bps of lager.



                    De download versie van de herziene firmware update verwachten wij eind april beschikbaar te hebben.

                    Nogmaals willen wij onze welgemeende excuses aanbieden voor ieder ongemak voortkomend uit dit probleem.
